Here are 5 interesting facts about Gabbi Garcia
In a YouTube video, Wednesday, Gabbi Garcia answered assumptions that were sent to her by her Instagram followers, revealing a few more tidbits we didn't know about the Kapuso star.
1. Had she been a boy, she would've been called Gabriel Luis Lopez
When her mom was pregnant with her, Gabbi’s parents thought that they were going to welcome a baby boy into the world.
“[Mom] always felt that I was a boy because she would always eat a lot and I was actively kicking all the time so she prepared a name for a boy,” she said in Filipino.
“It turns out, I’m a girl. So now I’m Gabriella Louise Ortega Lopez,” she added.
Gabbi also shared that she’s a “centennial baby” so she was somehow also named after Gabriela Silang.
2. She started modeling at four years old
According to Gabbi, her parents have always supported her with what she wants to do and, yes, she’s already thriving at such a young age.
“There’s no pay or talent fee. We would just go to malls and then the clothes are free so the clothes I wore were already mine,” she said.
“It’s really just exposure and experience and just really building connections so they were really patient to drive and accompany me,” she added.
3. Gabbi is a bibo kid
Gabbi described herself as “bida bida” child, or “bibbo” because she practically tried everything possible given all the summer workshops she attended.
Musical theater, hip-hop, folk dance, modeling - name it, she’s done it!
“It’s such a good practice for a kid. It didn’t only prepare me as an actress but it also prepared my social skills so I could easily talk to people.”
“Workshops every summer are a big big big part for me to be able to do everything now that I’m working.”
4. She excelled in both academics and extra-curricular activities
While Gabbi made sure to hone her talents, she also ensured keeping her grades in check without pressuring herself too much.
“I was in the cream section ever since I was in grade school to high school,” she said.
“I’m just chill. I would study if there’s an exam, I would do assignments and everything but I wasn’t really hard on myself,” she added.
According to Gabbi, even though she made sure to do things freely, she was still part of their batch’s top 50. “I’d say I made my parents proud.”
5. She was a cover girl of a tween magazine
From being an avid fan of the “Total Girl” teen magazine, she eventually became a cover girl!
“When I look at the girls of ‘Total Girl,’ I would always tell myself ‘Oh my gosh. Someday, U wanna be one of them,’” she said.
“Then there was this one opportunity. I submitted everything that I can submit and then I got in. I got my first print for Total Girl and I was so so happy,” she added.
Gabbi is set to star with real life boyfriend Khalil Ramos in GMA’s upcoming show “Love You Stranger.”
