Thia Thomalla to portray fierce presidential security officer on ‘First Yaya’
Miss Eco International 2018 Thia Thomalla will play a fierce presidential security officer on the upcoming GMA-7 series “First Yaya.”
In an interview with internal GMA Network press, Thia said she and fellow actor Pancho Magno underwent training for their roles as members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).
“There was only one time na nag-Zoom kami ng mga PSG, nag-usap kami kung ano ang mga dos and don’ts, pati ’yung mga research namin,” she said.
“Tapos personally, tried working out regularly para hindi ako ganon kapagod ’pag dating sa mga scenes na may action,” she added.
Thia, who admitted she could be quite “girly,” said her PSG role was challenging.
“Medyo nahirapan din ako … but I’m really happy with the role and I hope na ma-enjoy niyo ang scene namin ni Pancho kasi sobrang nag-enjoy kami ni Pancho and sana ma-justify namin ’yun,” she said.
Thia will play PSG Val, the security personnel of the children of the president, who will be portrayed by Gabby Concepcion.
Pancho, who will play the security officer of the president on “First Yaya,” said they trained on firing guns and a bit of martial arts.
“Nag-firing kami para ma-practice ’yung stance, kung paano ’yung proper na paghawak ng hand gun, and siyempre nag-training din kami kung paano ’yung mga positioning, kung ano ’yung mga ginagawa ng mga PSG, so nanood kami ng mga iba’t iba. Nag-research kami about doon,” he said.
“And also, eto nga sakto rin kasi meron kaming scene ni Thia na kailangan namin may pagka-MMA jiujitsu, boxing, so at least napaghandaan namin with the help with our stunt coordinator, si Mike, at ’yung buong crew at buong staff, so nagawa namin siya ng mas malinis, I hope,” he added.
“First Yaya” will premiere on March 15 on GMA Network’s Telebabad, replacing Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday. – RC, GMA News
