KC Concepcion recalls embarassing elevator moment with Korean actor Jang Dong Gun

Do you remember Korean actor Jang Dong Gun who starred in hit K-dramas like “Arthdal Chronicles,” “Suits” and “All About Eve"?

KC Concepcion had an “embarrassing” encounter with him in 2008, when she attended former US President Bill Clinton’s Global Initiative Asia meeting.

The Filipina actress-host, who is an ambassador for the United Nations-World Food Programme (UN-WFP), shared the story while showcasing her perfume collection in a vlog posted last February 20.

KC was apparently so fond of one perfume that she wore it at the global event in Hong Kong.

She hoped that it would leave a good impression on Dong Gun, who was also attending as a goodwill ambassador, but things didn't quite go according to plan.

“Sabi ko, ‘totodo ko na ‘to.’ Kasi mahaba pa yung gabi ko. Totodo ko na ‘to! Kailangan mabangung-mabango ako. Kailangan maalala niya talaga ako',” KC recalled.

“They say kasi you have to have your own scent na pag naamoy ng tao ‘yun, they will only remember you. Kahit wala ka sa room na yun, maamoy lang nila ‘yung perfume na ‘yun, they will remember you,” she explained.

KC, however, neglected to follow the “rules” of perfuming and ended up spraying the bottle over her body.

“Hanggang paa, hanggang — lahat. As in, kung saan may balat, nag-spray talaga ako. Pati yung purse ko, inisprayan ko. Sabi ko, ‘kailangan mag-last ito,”

Unfortunately, KC ended up taking the same elevator with Dong Gun who began to cough after she stepped inside.

“Wala pang two minutes, pag-labas ko ng kuwarto ko, sila ‘yung laman ng elevator,” KC recalled.

“Alam niyo ba, hiyang-hiya talaga ako. Sabi ko [sa sarili ko], ‘shet, ang bango ko!’ Talagang… kunwari walang nangyari, guys.”

“Pumasok na ako ng elevator, nagsara na ‘yung elevator, 'good evening, heto na!' Sabi na lang ni Jang Dong Gun (imitates coughing),” she added.

KC said she and Dong Gun did not exactly exchange words, but she was sure it was her perfume that sent him coughing.

“Alam niyo, hindi ko na lang siya tiningnan. Alam kong ako ‘yung sanhi ng pagkaubo niya sa elevator,” she recalled.

“Tapos talagang sinumpa ko na ‘yung perfume na yon. Yung perfume ko na akala ko nakakaganda, tinapon ko na kasi hiyang-hiya talaga ako,” she added.

KC, however, was still happy she got to share the stage with both the Korean actor and former President Clinton during the event, despite the awkward encounter.

“So guys, moral of the story, huwag kayong assuming, huwag kayong mag-expect and always be ready for life’s surprises and keep it subtle, minimalist is key, less is more,” KC said. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
