Lani Misalucha worried about singing ability amid meningitis bout: 'Is it going to be taken away from me?'
Lani Misalucha admitted that she worried about losing her ability to sing as she and her husband fought bacterial meningitis.
According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," the Asia's Nightingale stayed at the hospital for 18 days battling the life-threatening illness.
She revealed that she is now deaf in one ear when she returned to the Christmas special of singing competition "The Clash."
"It's very devastating, you know," she said. "Parang wow, this is my profession, and then this happens. This has been my love, and then I don't know, ang iniisip ko na lang, is it going to be taken away from me?"
Lani described what it was like to lose her hearing while at the hospital.
"Nung nasa ICU kami, as in bingi both ears. I can actually hear some noise doon sa room doon sa ICU pero I cannot make out the words, 'yung sinasalita ng mga tao," she said.
The singer added that she also struggled with dizziness.
"'Yung hilo talaga ang medyo nakaka-disable. Konting paling ng kaliwa o kanan, talagang nakakahilo," she said.
Lani thanked her fellow "The Clash" judges Aiai Delas Alas, Christian Bautista, and Pops Fernandez, as well as "Wowowin" host Willie Revillame, for their messages of support.
"Very grateful kasi lahat nung mga messages nila sinasabi nila, we were praying for you," she said. "Nagpapasalamat talaga ako sa kanila, na walang abog-abog tumutulong sila sa akin." —MGP, GMA News
