Lani Misalucha reveals loss of hearing after bout with bacterial meningitis
Asia's Nightingale Lani Misalucha revealed that she is now deaf in one ear after battling a life-threatening illness.
"Medyo bingi, hindi pala medyo. Bingi po talaga ang nangyari sa akin, dito sa right side ko, kaming mag-asawa," she said during the Christmas Special of singing competition "The Clash," which she previously judged.
"Meron po kaming vestibular dysfunction kaya po kailangan namin ng alalay lagi," she added.
The iconic Filipino singer shared that she and her husband Noli were rushed to the ICU early October. She suffered from body pains and a "pounding headache."
"Meron lang talaga kaming patuloy na nararamdaman which is 'yung dizziness, and pagkahina ng pandinig," she added.
"Para kang nasa ilalim ng tubig, so muffled talaga saka high-pitched," she added.
She said that until now, she has not properly "absorbed" what happened.
"Alam mo 'yun, na parang, paano ito? Singer ako, kailangan ko ng pandinig ko," she said.
"Sinabi ko sa sarili ko, 'Okay, singing may not be for me anymore,'" she added.
She said she felt helpless and hopeless, and that she still has not found the answer. However, she has learned to accept it.
"Sabi ko okay lang, kung ito yung binigay na challenge then I'll take the challenge," she said.
For the Christmas Special, Lani turned emotional to be reunited with her "The Clash" hosts AiAi delas Alas and Christian Bautista.
"Nagpapasalamat ako sa Panginoong Diyos dahil buhay ako, buhay kaming mag-asawa," she said. —JCB, GMA News
