‘Aswang’ film on war on drugs wins big at 2020 Famas Awards

Aswang, a film by Alyx Ayn Arumpac on the deadly campaign of the current administration against illegal drugs, won big in this year's FAMAS Awards held digitally on Sunday, December 20.
The film bagged the best picture, best documentary, best editing, and tied for best cinematography with Babae at Baril by Tey Clamor.
"In 2016, a machinery was set in motion to execute suspected drug peddlers, users, and small-time criminals in the Philippines. ASWANG follows people whose lives entwine with the growing violence," the film's writeup reads.
Below is a list of the winners of this year's awards:
- Best picture: Aswang by Alyx Arumpac
- Best short film: Tokwifi by Carla Ocampo
- Best documentary: Aswang by Alyx Arumpac
- Best cinematography: Aswang by Alyx Arumpac & Tanya Haurylchyk; Babae at Baril by Tey Clamor
- Best direction: Raymund Ribay Gutierrez, Verdict
- Best actress: Janine Gutierrez, Babae at Baril
- Best actor: Elijah Canlas, Kalel,15; Kristoffer King, Verdict
- Best supporting actress: Dolly de Leon, Verdict
- Best supporting actor: Ricky Davao, Fuccbois
- Best editing: Fatima Bianchi and Anne Fabini, Aswang
- Best sound: For my Alien Friend by Jet Leyco and Brian Gonzales
- Best scoring: Babae at Baril, Immanuel Verona
- Best screenplay: Cleaners, Glenn Barit
- Best production design: Babae at Baril, Eero Francisco
