Former child star Maybelyn dela Cruz tests positive for COVID-19
Maybelyn dela Cruz on Instagram Sunday said she tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after participating in relief operations in Cagayan.
"And... I have COVID," she began her caption that accompanied a photo from what looks like inside a hospital.
According to the former child star, she isolated herself in a separate room in their house following her participation in Philippine Red Cross' relief operations in the Cagayan Region, which experienced heavily flooding from the recent typhoon.
"I observed voluntary self-quarantine in a separate room in our home and subsequently subjected myself to swab testing," Maybelyn continued. "It was something I was hoping would not happen, but it has. I was informed just last night that I tested positive for COVID-19."
Coordinating with city officials, she was quickly admitted to the hospital.
According to Maybelyn she only has mild symptoms of COVID-19 and is feeling well. "I am being closely monitored. My family is scheduled for swab testing on Monday," she added.
Maybelyn took the opportunity to inform those who have come in close contact with her and her husband to take the necessary steps to help contain the spread of the disease.
"As responsible members of our community, our family appreciates the importance of health protocols in order to break the chain of transmission," she added.
