Catriona Gray calls for donations for the Philippines following Ulysses' wrath
Catriona Gray has blasted a call for help as the Philippines reels from the wrath of Typhoon Ulysses.
"As of the moment, the Philippines is experiencing the wrath of one typhoon after another. 2020 is not letting up on its challenges," the Miss Universe 2018 queen said in an Instagram video.
"I am appealing to the generous donors and kind-hearted people from the Philippines and our friends around the world, please help by donating to the Philippine Red Cross," she added.
As of the video's posting, Catriona said that 550 evacuation centers were filled with 33,618 families affected by Ulysses' onslaught.
"These families have lost so much, and worry for the health and safety of themselves, their loved ones, and their kababayans," she said.
In her Instagram Stories, Catriona said she was "thinking of all my family, friends, and kababayans in the Philippines who are facing strong winds, rain, and floods from Typhoon Ulysses."
"Praying for safety and for aid to reach those in need," she added.
Catriona is currently in Colombia, having previously accepted the invitation to be a judge in the Miss Universe Colombia 2020 pageant.
She recently trended on Twitter after responding to a netizen who critiqued her for being away during a pandemic and a typhoon.
"Even though I'm away I've been doing my part in working with @philredcross since the day of the typhoon to provide aid and relief to the affected areas," Catriona said.
Ulysses killed at least seven people and unleashed some of the worst flooding in years in the capital Manila.
It struck areas still reeling from Super Typhoon Rolly (Goni), the most powerful typhoon in the world this year, which killed 25 people and destroyed thousands of homes earlier this month. —JCB, GMA News
