Netflix confirms ‘Kingdom’ special episode starring Jun Ji-hyun
It’s official!
Netflix is releasing a special episode of the South Korean horror thriller “Kingdom,” and it will star Jun Ji Hyun and Park Byung Eun.
“Kingdom: Ashin of the North” is a “sidequel” to “Kingdom” Season 2, telling a backstory about the mysterious woman who Lee Chang’s (Ju Ji Hoon) group encountered at the end.
This new character is named Ashin, and she is played by none other than Jun Ji Hyun (English name: Gianna Jun) who is best known for her roles in “My Love from the Star,” “Legend of the Blue Sea” and “My Sassy Girl (2001).”
Park Byung Eun, who made a lasting impression in “Kingdom” season two as the head of the Royal Commandery Min Chi-rok, is also confirmed to star.
The new story will detail what had happened to Ashin in the past in the northern region and how the two characters’ fates intertwined.
According to a teaser released on November 1, “Kingdom: Ashin of the North” is coming to Netflix in 2021. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
