Dingdong Dantes says it was hard for him to leave home for ‘Descendants of the Sun’ lock-in taping
Dingdong Dantes has revealed that he had a hard time leaving home for his lock-in taping for “Descendants of the Sun Philippines.”
“’Yung feeling, mahirap kasi while excited ka makita at makasama ulit ’yung kaibigan mo, mga katrabaho mo, may sepanx dahil for so many months every day, mula umaga hanggang gabi, kasama ko chikiting, asawa ko,” the actor said.
“For 20 years straight parati ako wala sa bahay, so kakaibang expierence sa ’kin ’yun,” he added.
The cast and staff of Descendants of the Sun Philippines finished shooting the drama through a lock-in setup as a precaution amid the pandemic.
Dingdong also shared that although they had been briefed ahead of time about the lock-in setup, where all cast members have to stay in the location until they finish taping, it didn’t sink in until it was time for him to leave his home.
“So may kalungkutan paalis ng bahay,” he said. “Umalis ako 4:30, tulog pa sila, madilim pa kasi 6 o’clock call time namin sa Tanay.”
With the experience, Dingdong said he gained a stronger appreciation for overseas Filipino workers who had to leave their families for a longer period of time.
“Kami nga nga 2 weeks palang mawawala ang hirap na ... ma-appreciate mo ’yung sakripisyo na ’yung umaalis ng bahay at lumalayo para lang sa pamilya,” he said.
“Descendants of the Sun Philippines” will resume its run on Oct. 26 on GMA-7, starting with a two-week recap. It will also be available on Netflix starting Nov. 13. – RC, GMA News
