Maine Mendoza, Alden Richards, other Kapuso stars win at Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Entertainment Awards


Several Kapuso stars brought home top honors at the 51st Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation Box Office Entertainment Awards, which was held online.

According to Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras," Alden Richards bagged the Film Actor of the Year award and the Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema along with Kathryn Bernardo for their film "Hello Love Goodbye."

Maine Mendoza and Paolo Ballesteros were hailed as the Comedy Actress and Comedy Actor of the Year, respectively, while Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix were recognized as the Most Popular Love Team for Television.

Paolo and fellow "Eat Bulaga" dabarkads Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola were also named as the Male TV Hosts of the Year.

Allan K was given the Bert Marcelo Lifetime Achievement Award, while Gabby Concepcion received the Corazon Samaniego Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Clash Season 1 finalist Anthony Rosaldo was awarded the Promising Male Recording Artist of the Year.

"24 Oras" also won the Popular TV Program for News and Public Affairs award.

Meanwhile, several Kapuso programs also bagged accolades at the first ever Mendiola Consortium TV awards.

"Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" was hailed as the Best Magazine Show, "I-Witness" the Best Documentary Show, and "Biyahe ni Drew" as the Best Cultural and Art Program.

"Pepito Manaloto" was also recognized as the Best Comedy Show. 

The Mendiola Consortium is composed of San Beda University, Centro Escolar University, La Consolacion College Manila, College of the Holy Spirit, and Saint Jude Catholic School. —MGP, GMA News
