Cassy Legaspi says she encountered her first basher at 9 years old: 'I cried almost every day'
Believe it or not, Cassy Legaspi had her first encounter with an online basher at the young age of nine.
The 19-year-old actress, daughter of celebrities Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi, recalled the painful experience in her first ever vlog.
"There was this basher who was really saying mean things to me. I don't want to spread negativity, but it was so bad that it made me cry almost every day," Cassy said.
"And I was nine years old. I was nine,” she stressed. "Like, I don't even know that person who was bashing me and I cried almost every day."
Cassy recalled the experience while answering a question from a fan who had asked her how she deals with bashers.
She said she learned how to manage her emotions and distinguish hateful comments from "educated criticism."
"Because if it's an educated criticism, I suggest you take it and you think about it. 'Hmm, what should I improve on?' or 'Hmm, did I make a mistake doing this?’” Cassy said.
"But if it's just a hate comment like, 'You're so ugly. You're so fat.' Or something like that… brush it off. You don't need that negativity energy in your life," she added.
The actress also reminded viewers to stay positive, focus on yourself and keep in mind that some of the people who pass judgement online might not necessarily know the kind of person you truly are.
"I know it's easier said than done, but just don't mind them because they don't know who you really are and you know yourself more than anyone else,” Cassy said.
Cassy launched her own YouTube channel late September.
She answered a bunch of exciting questions from her fans, revealing some personal stuff like what her college course is, to preps she's been doing for her upcoming teleserye, "First Yaya."
She now has over 25,000 subscribers. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
