Michelle Dee reveals why she spent nearly P250k for her Miss World trip
Did you know that Michelle Dee spent $4,000 to $5,000 (almost P250,000) when she represented the Philippines at the Miss World 2019 competition in London?
According to a report on GMA-7's "Unang Hirit," the beauty queen made the revelation in a recent vlog where a fan asked her how much she spent on her wardrobe.
Michelle said she felt very blessed that she had sponsored clothes from very notable designers in the Philippines, and said a special thanks to her stylist Francis Chee for putting together her fabulous looks down to the accessories and bags.
But while Michelle didn't have to pay for her wardrobe itself, she said she had to take seven pieces of "extra large" luggage to London via an airline that charged "$60 per kg."
This included her incredible national costume by Francis Libiran, a luggage full of accessories, and a luggage full of winter clothes.
"So, to answer your question, for my wardrobe itself, I actually didn't spend anything. But to be honest, most of my spendings went to bringing those seven pieces of luggage all the way to London, and I'm going to be completely honest with you guys and I'm not exaggerating the number, I spent around 4 to 5 thousand dollars just to get all my luggage to London," she said.
Despite the expense, Michelle emphasized that she wanted to come to the competition "fully, fully prepared."
"I can't arrive as Miss Philippines with incomplete stuff kasi no queen should arrive with incomplete stuff," she explained.
"'Cause you just never know what’s gonna happen. You always wanna be prepared because, siyempre. That's what you're preparing for. It's a competition that you want to be fully, fully [prepared]," she said.
"It's competition so obviously you want to arrive with all of your ammo and all of your armor and just everything with you, so just keep that in mind," she added.
Michelle Dee made it as far as the Top 12 of the Miss World 2019 competition held in London last December.
The Filipina actress and beauty queen, however, was a force to be reckoned throughout the pageant.
Before the coronation night, she had secured a spot at the Top 40 after winning the Head to Head Challenge against some of her co-candidates.
