Kate Valdez to model for comic book character after Fil-Am writer saw her acting
Soon, we won’t just see Kate Valdez on screen, but in comic pages as well!
According to Cata Tibayan’s report on “24 Oras” Thursday, the Kapuso actress has inspired an upcoming horror comic book project by Filipino-American writer and journalist Mikee Sutton.
Mikee said he decided to model one of his characters after Kate after he saw her on “Onanay” when his mom watched the television drama.
“I went outside and she’s watching ‘Onanay’ and I don’t like soaps and I saw Kate and I was like, ‘who's that? Who's that girl?’” Mikee said.
“That's the character that I’m picturing in my head. I didn’t even know what she’d look like and that’s her. That’s gotta be her.”
He added: “I said, ‘you know I’m gonna model the character after Kate Valdez.”
Mikee said it was Kate’s acting that reeled him in, especially with how she portrayed her passion and anger during her scenes.
“There is an intensity to her acting that I caught right away,” Mikee said. “When she gets mad in ‘Onanay,’ you can see the fire in her eyes.”
Mikee revealed that he was stumped and couldn’t write the script for two years, but after seeing Kate, he was able to finish it in just two weeks.
Kate said she was beyond flattered when she was chosen as the muse of Mikee’s project.
“Sobrang daming mas kilala at mas talented na actors dito at sa ibang bansa na pwede niyang gamitin bilang inspiration sa ginagawa niyang character pero ako napusuan niyang inspiration doon sa character,” she said.
“Nakakataba sa puso so hindi lang dahil sa TV, ngayon comics makikita mukha ko,” the actress added.
Written by Mikee, the comic book will also feature illustrations from GMA lead visual designer Noel Layon Flores.
However, no release date for the horror comic book has been announced. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
