Kyryll reveals how she wrote her hit single 'Gunita'

Kapuso Soul Princess Kyryll Ugdiman revealed how she wrote her hit single "Gunita," a song about happier times that people wish they could get back.

"Sinulat ko po 'to na random thoughts," the singer told GMA News Online. "Nasa isip ko [habang] sinusulat o ginawan ko ng tono na nagugunita po sana lahat ng memories. Masaya, ganoon."

Kyryll also said that she's currently working on a new song, although there's no definite release date just yet.

Called "Sad Birds Still Sing," the song is about dealing with feelings of depression.

"Sana ma-inspire sila sa kantang 'to if matapos ko 'yung kanta," the singer said. "Song po siya na kahit anong ibato sa 'yo sa buhay, tayo ka pa rin, kumanta ka pa rin."

Kyryll, who was part of GMA's singing talent search "The Clash" Season 1, took home the "Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist" during the Awit Awards 2020.

She won the award for her single "Silent Rumblings" written by Bel Andres for GMA Music.

"Hindi ko po talaga ine-expect. Sobrang grateful ko sa sumuporta sakin," Kyryll said on winning the award. "Di ko po talaga ma-describe. Di ko alam ano sasabihin, sobrang speechless." —MGP, GMA News
