Chadwick was apparently diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, which eventually progressed to Stage 4 over the past four years.
"A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotheraphy," the statement read.
"It was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther," it added.
The American actor died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.
Chadwick had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Panther in 2016, making an appearance as T'Challa in "Captain America: Civil War." He went on to star in his own Marvel movie, the successful "Black Panther" in 2018, before joining the phenomenal "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018) and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019).
Since then, he has starred in "21 Bridges" as Andre Davis, "Da 5 Bloods" as Stormin' Norman. He also joined the cast of "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" as Levee.
He was supposed to reprise his role as Black Panther in the sequel movie slated for 2022.
Chadwick's Marvel co-stars had paid tribute to him by sharing heart-breaking messages on their social media accounts.
Marvel Studios and even rival company DC Comics also honored the actor. —JCB, GMA News
