Jo Berry gains international fans after Spanish dub of 'Onanay,' 'The Gift' hit Latin America

Jo Berry has gained international fans after the Spanish dub of "Onanay" and "The Gift" became popular in Latin America.

According to Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," the Kapuso actress earned the admiration of the Spanish-speaking audience for her performance in the two series.

She was even invited for an interview on a morning show in Ecuador, where the dramas received high ratings. They were also popular in the Dominican Republic.

"Kinakabahan ako baka mali-mali 'yung nasagot ko kasi halo 'yung kaba ko saka s'yempre overwhelmed ako marami ring nakakanood doon sa kanila," she said.

Fans even reached out to Jo, who had to use Google translate to understand the messages, as they were in Spanish.

"Kinilig ako," she said. "Sabi ko nakakatuwa kasi naglaan din sila ng time para mag-send ng message sa akin to tell me na nagustuhan nila 'yung story."

Jo played the characters Onay in "Onanay" and Strawberry in "The Gift."

The "Onanay" dub was titled "El Amor mas Grande" while "The Gift" was known as "Un Don Verdadero." —MGP, GMA News
