Alessandra de Rossi reveals she's had the story of 'Through Night and Day' since she was 19
Alessandra de Rossi said she's had the story of her hit film with Paolo Contis "Through Night and Day" with her since she was about 19 or 20 years old.
In an interview with Lyn Ching on "Unang Hirit" Tuesday, Alessandra said it has always been her dream to make that story into a film so she'll have a reason to go bald.
"Siguro mga 19, 20 ako. Hawak ko na siya tapos sabi ko gusto ko gamitin ko 'tong story na to para makapagpakalbo ako one day. Yun talaga yung pangarap ko one day," Alessandra said.
However, Alessandra said she decided to have its script written by a real scriptwriter.
"Ako dapat talaga magsu-sulat kasi story ko talaga siya. Kaya lang sa sobrang busy ko nun sa soap ko nun, tinawagan ako ng co-producer ko na, 'Ano na? 'Asaan na yung script?' Sabi ko, nako hindi na kaya," she narrated.
"Ang ginawa ko, kwinento ko dun sa best friend kong writer. Sabi ko sulat mo na tapos ako na lang magdi-direct," she said.
When Alessandra finally read how good the script was, she decided to put her hands off the directing job and get a real director.
"Magpahanap kayo, pahanap kayong direktor yung marunong talaga, mamaya masira ko rin," she added.
Aside from being the actors of the show, Alessandra and Paolo also served as the producers.
Alessandra said the reason why her films such as "Kita Kita" and "Through Night and Day" have become a hit is because they don't follow the usual Pinoy film formula.
"Feeling ko lang, parang malayo sila sa formula parang laging may bagong flavor na nadoon. Siguro nga yung 'Kita Kita' broke the formula of the original Pinoy films," she said.
"At eto nanaman po tayo, yung leading man at leading lady natin yung hindi tinuturing leading man at leading lady, tapos nag-da-drama silang dalawa. Tapos naiiyak kayo sa kanila so parang feeling ko 'yon 'yun," she added.
"Through Night and Day" follows the story of Ben and Jen, who have been together for 13 years and are on a trip to Iceland, Jen's lifelong dream destination, where they face conflicts and misfortunes together.
The film premiered in cinemas in 2018 but it wasn't until it started streaming that it gained the attention it so deserved. "Through Night and Day" is a consistent figure in Netflix Philippines' Top 10 most-watched films, after it premiered on the platform on July 9. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
