Chanda Romero's mom dies of COVID-19
The mother of Kapuso actress Chanda Romero has died of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Cata Tibayan's report for "24 Oras," Remedios Romero got tested for COVID-19 on June 9 and received the positive result a few days later.
She developed COVID-related pneumonia but Chanda said she was starting to get better after being taken to the hospital.
"She was out of the woods na, ok na 'yun papauwiin na siya e. In fact I was arranging for people to disinfect the house," the actress said.
Chanda, however, got a call from the doctor that her mother passed away.
"They tried to resuscitate her, injected her with epi, and she flatlined," she said.
The actress was heartbroken that she could not be with her mother in her final moments. She is in Manila, while her mother was in Cebu.
"I know that you know how much we all love you. I know you took that with you when you crossed over," she said. "And I know you're there looking down at us. We will see you again. We love you, mom." —MGP, GMA News
