Catriona Gray auctions off Miss Universe candidate pin to raise funds for COVID-19 testing kits

Catriona Gray decided to auction off her Miss Universe candidate pin to raise funds for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing kits.

The Miss Universe 2018 titleholder placed her pin for bidding at the Shop & Share fundraiser website, an initiative spearheaded by Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis, to help in COVID-19 response.

"In December 2018 in Bangkok Thailand, Miss Universe Philippines, Catriona Gray debuted the 'slow-mo turn' and Ibong Adarna gown. The Philippines sash was secured over her heart with this pin," said the site.

The pin was of high sentimental value for Catriona and she wanted to share its significance to other people in the name of benefiting her countrymen.

According to Shop & Share, whoever will have the highest bid for the item will not only get the pin, but will also receive a personal handwritten note from Catriona herself.

The bidding price started at Php 20,000 and has reached over Php250,000 as of writing. Bidding for the item will close at June 11, 9 a.m. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
