Hyun Bin made filming an ad ‘very easy’ despite safety restrictions
“Crash Landing on You” star Hyun Bin was able to make the production for a telecom advertisement “very easy” despite travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In an online press conference on Monday, Smart Communications revealed a special behind-the-scenes look at the Korean actor’s “Smart Ako” campaign, which they shot earlier this year.
Despite the travel restrictions, Smart says working with Hyun Bin and his team in South Korea was "surprisingly simple and easy."
According to Lloyd R. Manaloto, Smart vice president for corporate marketing and strategy, all the material for the advertisement was shot in just one day, and production was "100-percent done online."
"I think they understood the challenges that we were facing, that we were monitoring remote then they were producing there," Manaloto told the press.
"And what was surprising was, like his character Captain Ri, he didn't make a lot of fuss. They would tell us if it’s doable or not, and obviously they were working with obvious diligence and were very professional."
Smart's senior vice president and head of wireless consumer business Jane Jimenez Basas, on the other hand, shared that Hyun Bin and his team in South Korea were “very nice."
The actor is also set to visit the Philippines for the promotions once COVID-19 related travel restrictions permit.
"He actually told us that he would have wanted to be here during the launch of the TVC (commercial), so we’re really really praying that flight restrictions are lifted soon and things go back to normal so we can make more people happy," said Basas.
Last Wednesday, Smart Communications surprised everybody when it dropped a teaser starring a Korean oppa that looks exactly like Hyun Bin. Quickly, PLDT president and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan replied to the tweet and confirmed it: "Yes. Hyun Bin it is."
Before the weekend, the telco put out another video on social media, this time with Hyun Bin greeting his Filipino fans.
