GMA Network stars provide relief in light of the pandemic via ‘Bayanihan Musikahan’
Through music and its talented artists, GMA Network continues to rally support for those who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Various Kapuso stars have taken part in ‘Bayanihan Musikahan,' the online fundraising concert series initiated by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, which has given aid to thousands of homeless families, patients and medical personnel, as well as music production staff financially displaced by the pandemic.
Last May 19, GMA Music artists Ken Chan and Rita Daniela joined the Facebook live concert.
Tonight (May 21), Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo and Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado will both showcase emotional musical numbers at 8 p.m.
They will be followed by Rhian Ramos and Lovi Poe at 9 p.m., where Rhian will show off her entertaining VJ skills as Lovi performs a series of delightful songs.
This coming Friday (May 22), Tom Rodriguez and Manilyn Reynes will join the concert and amp up the fun online.
Meanwhile, the upcoming “Huntahan-Musikahan” with Ryan Cayabyab on May 29 will be bannered by Asia’s Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose, internationally-acclaimed singing sensation Aicelle Santos, Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, and Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha.
The live online concerts manifest an uplifting way for Kapuso artists to provide aid from the other side of the screen. As they continue to raise funds for those in need, they also bring Filipinos together as one in generosity and hope that the country will soon win the fight against this pandemic.
As of writing, the ‘Bayanihan-Musikahan’ concert series has raised over Php75 million, which has provided hot meals to 439 homeless individuals temporarily housed in 7 colleges and universities, 175 patients and medical personel of the Quezon City barangay quarantine center, HOPE 2, and Evacuation/COVID Center of Manila’s Del Pan district. Moreover, 91,855 food packs have been delivered to urban poor communities within NCR, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, as well as Cebu City, and to the indigenous communities on Polillo Island (Dumagat) and Sultan Kudarat (Teduray). It has also provided cash assistance to 337 live music events production staff who are currently unemployed due to the community quarantine.
