Miss Earth 2011 Olga Alava tests positive for COVID-19

Miss Earth 2011 Olga Alava has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On Instagram last week, the Ecuadorian beauty queen shared in Spanish, "My test came back positive...My biggest advice: Don't wait until you have serious symptoms to ask for help."

Día 16 desde el primer síntoma. #yanohaysintomas Ya no me ahogo y he recuperado el gusto y olfato, me siento bien ???????? GRACIAS doy gracias a Dios y pido por quienes padecen de síntomas que puedan tratarse en sus hogares y puedan tomar acción a tiempo y una pronta recuperación ???? GRACIAS a todos los que me escribieron y estuvieron pendientes, dando consejos y haciéndome compañía así sea virtualmente . Lo valoro mucho ?? a mi familia que aunque lejos, porque la cuarentena nos tocó estando todos lejos (Lima, Salinas y Madrid, Fargo ) estuvieron aquí y mis hermanos que se han ocupado de todo en estos días ?? y obviamente gracias a mis Doctores y amigos por Dr. Raúl Santa María , Dra Cecilia Chiavassa y Dra Esther Suárez por su preocupación, ayuda y guía desde que di positivo. . . No pierdan la fe de que podremos sobrellevar este virus, tampoco bajemos la guardia, apoyemos como podamos y sigamos cuidandonos????. Pd. Cualquier cosa o pregunta estoy aquí, mantengamos la calma.

The beauty queen thanked her family, her fans and God, and added, "Never lose faith that we can cope with this virus, let's not let our guard down, support as much as we can and keep taking care of ourselves.” 

As of Thursday morning, over 1.46 million people have tested positive with COVID-19 globally. 86,000 people have died due to the disease.
