Sylvia Sanchez and husband test positive for COVID-19
Sylvia Sanchez and her husband Art have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The actress announced the unfortunate news on her Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon.
"On March 24, my husband and I were brought to Cardinal Santos as I was having chills and he had cough and shortness of breath," she captioned the photo showing test results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Sylvia said they were asked to take COVID-19 swab tests and later self-isolated.
"A week later, we finally received the results and we both came out positive for COVID-19," she continued.
Sylvia called on those whom they had contact with prior to the community quarantine "to monitor for symptoms of shortness of breath, cough, fever, LBM and sore throat."
The actress said she and her husband are getting better each day.
"Although this is slower than our usual recovery, we know that with prayers and strict compliance with our doctor’s orders, we will get there."
She ended her post with a reminder to her followers to keep themselves healthy and stay at home.
"Until then, we will keep you updated on how this progresses. Stay safe, healthy and take your 1000mg of vitamin C and 20mg of zinc daily! Most importantly, stay home to help prevent the spread of the virus."
Sylvia is the third celebrity to test positive with COVID-19 after Iza Calzado and Christopher de Leon, who are now both recovering.
On Monday, talent manager Noel Ferrer announced that Iza has tested negative for COVID-19 and could go home after finishing her IV antibiotics, while Christopher has been discharged from the hospital.
Meanwhile, veteran actor Domingo 'Menggie' Cobarrubias died of pneumonia while awaiting COVID-19 test results.
As of Monday afternoon, there are 1,546 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, according to the Department of Health. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
