Willie Revillame distributes relief goods in Puerto Galera amid enhanced community quarantine

Willie Revillame distributed food and water to the residents of Puerto Galera amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

According to Cata Tibayan's report for "24 Oras," the Wowowin host was not able to return to Metro Manila and chose to stay in his resort in the popular tourist destination.

Puerto Galera has been hit hard by the travel restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), so Kuya Wil extended his help to the residents.

"Napag-alaman ko na bawal sila sa palengke, dahil una wala silang transportasyon, bawal ding lumabas," he said. "Isa lang ang kailangan eh wala silang sasakyan, walang tricycle."

Together with volunteers, Willie sent 40 sacks of rice, along with boxes of noodles and bottled water, to help those who suddenly found themselves out of jobs like the boatmen.

They even used Willie's speedboat help transport the goods in different parts of Puerto Galera.

"Ito kahit papaano maliit na bagay lang, sa isang araw, dalawang araw, nakatulong tayo sa kanila," Willie said.

Residents thanked the host for lending a helping hand in this time of crisis.

"Ako'y tuwang tuwa po sa inyo at hindi po namin akalain na kami ay bibigyan nyo ng ganyan," a resident told Willie.

Willie encouraged everyone to stay home to avoid catching and spreading the virus.

"Sana matapos na po ito para hindi nag-su-suffer tayong lahat, hindi tayo nahihirapan," he said.

Willie will go live on the Wowowin Facebook page on Friday to give cash and other prizes to help more people.

As of Wednesday, the Philippines has 636 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 38 deaths. --MGP, GMA News
