From being a GMA News anchor to granting wishes on "Wish Ko Lang," veteran journalist Vicky Morales has proven she is one versatile woman.

This time, Morales is opening the new decade with a brand new role as "Ate ng Bayan" in the reality-drama program "Ilaban Natin 'Yan!"

In GMA's newest offering, Morales will be traveling to different barangays to find conflicting parties and resolve their problems by reaching out to them to get to the root of the issue.

There will be a "Palaban Express," a modern jeepney that roams around different barangays to hear out the people's concerns. Experts and resource persons will also be present during the confrontation.

The featured stories will then be re-enacted by various Kapuso stars.

Morales said this new program can be a platform where members of the family can discuss their issues openly.

"Ilaban Natin 'Yan!" will tackle different family issues such as sibling rivalry, inheritance disputes and adultery among others. Children's addiction to social media, gadgets, suicide and inheritance dispute will also be discussed.

Morales said her new role is challenging for her because it is a different persona compared to what she has done in "Wish Ko Lang" and "Good News," which she have become her comfort zone.

"Dati namimigay ng scholarshiop, nagtatagpo ng mga pamilya then sa 'Good News,' magagandang balita, ito ibang-iba kasi siyempre nandiyan 'yong mga nagbabangayan," she said.

Although it is a different persona, Morales said she can still apply everything she learned from those shows in "Ilaban Natin 'Yan!"

"Siyempre ang training  (sa amin), pakinggan 'yong both sides of the story, without exception and makakatulong talaga 'yon sa programang ito kasi kailangan bigyan ng equal air time each side," she said.

"'Yong compassion ko doon sa 'Wish Ko Lang,' madadala ko rin so I would like to think lahat 'yan will be very helpful as I face my new role," Morales added.

You can catch "Ilaban Natin 'Yan!" every Saturday starting February 22 after Tadhana on GMA-7. —MGP, GMA News
