Upcoming Kapuso series ‘Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday’ has a star-studded cast
The much-awaited GMA-7 TV adaptation of the iconic 1984 film "Anak Ni Waray vs. Anak Ni Biday" is scheduled to premiere on January 27, 2020.
The upcoming TV series revolves around two best friends (Barbie Forteza and Kate Valdez) who are dragged into a family feud by their mothers, who are sworn enemies.
Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie will be portraying Ginalyn, a diligent and optimistic Waray girl.
Meanwhile, promising young actress Kate Valdez will be portraying Caitlyn, an Ilocana girl who dreams of making it big as a vlogger.
Ginalyn and Caitlyn's paths meet, and they become best friends. Little do they know that their mothers are mortal enemies because they loved the same man, Joaquin.
Their moms will be played by veteran actresses Snooky Serna and Dina Bonnevie.
"Marami po kaming mao-offer sa manonood namin. Unang una, may yugtong drama...Kwento po ito ng pagkakaibigan, kwento po ito ng pagmamahalan. Kwento ng nanay. Meron pong comedy," said director Mark Sicat dela Cruz during a media conference at GMA Network Center on Tuesday evening.
He told entertainment reporters that he did not watch the original film because he did not want to "copy" it.
"Hindi ko po siya pinanood para hindi po ako magkaroon ng bias or mangopya o manggaya. Eto po ang interpretasyon ko," he added.
Other Kapuso actors who will be appearing in the TV series are Jay Manalo, Migo Adecer, Lovi Poe, Max Collins, Lovi Poe and Faith de Silva.
Completing the cast are Teresa Loyzaga, Jean Saburit, Tanya Montenegro, Benedict Cua, Celia Rodriguez, Jason Abalos, Pinky Amador, Mike Nacua, Yanna Asistio and Franco Gray Nerona.
According to a GMA-7 press release, the upcoming remake will also highlight famous tourist destinations in Leyte and Ilocos.
Pinoy viewers are in for a treat as they will be seeing familiar places in the series, such as the beautiful San Juanico Bridge and the magnificent Paoay Sand Dunes.
