Claudine Barretto denies starting fight at dad's wake, says Gretchen 'gave way' and that Marjorie was 'unbelievable'

Claudine Barretto has denied allegations that she was the one who started the scuffle during their father's wake last week.

"Ako nagsimula ng gulo? First of all, hinding hindi ko magagawa 'yun sa harapan ng Presidente o kahit sino mang mas nakakatatanda na nirerespeto ko," Claudine said in an interview aired Wednesday morning on Nelson Canlas' report for Unang Balita.

The dispute between Claudine's sisters Gretchen and Marjorie at the wake on Friday was witnessed by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Claudine, Duterte did urge Gretchen and Marjorie to make peace, but the latter refused the President's request.

"So sabi ni Marjorie, 'Ako? ako po? magmamano sa kanya?' Sabi niya, 'Hindi niyo ho alam kung anong ginagawa niyan sa akin at sa mga anak ko,' sabi niya," she said.

"So sabi ni Gretchen, 'eh di ako na lang po bilang nakakatatandang kapatid'."

Claudine continued to defend Gretchen, saying she showed humility and "gave way" even though she was the big sister. 

"Nag-give way talaga 'yung ate ko. With all humility, alam mong napakahirap gawin 'yun ha. Ikaw ang ate, ikaw ang magkpapaubaya."

For Claudine, Marjorie's actions were "unbelievable," given they were even at the presence of President Duterte.

"Sabi ko, 'Huwag sa harapan ng Presidente, Marjorie.' Sabi ko, 'You're unbelievable,' sabi kong ganu'n. Ganito ang boses ko, ha. Hindi ako sumisigaw. Sinasabi ko talaga na 'You're unbelievable, Marj.'  Tapos what? I'm unbelievable? Wow! 'Yan nagbabait baitan yan,' ganyan," she said.

"She was hysterical already and, sa Presidemte. Hindi mo nga kayang mapagbigyan ang hiling ng Presidente, mag-a-'I love you' ka sa Presidente, ano ba yun?" she added.

Claudine, who was rushed to the hospital after the scuffle, aired her suspicions about Marjorie's narration of the events.

"Dun sa kuwento niya, maraming kulang or dagdag. Pakiramdam ko, dagdag-bawas 'yung pananakit nila sa akin, physically. Minedico-legal ako."

With the heated dispute going on, Claudine said she was having a very difficult time accepting her father Miguel's passing.

"Dahil sa gulong 'to, hindi pa nagsi-sink in 'yung pagkawala ng tatay ko. Hindi ko alam kung dahil sa gulong 'to o dahil ayoko pang i-accept. Hindi ako okay, kasi alam kong hindi okay ang daddy ko, hindi siya masaya sa mga pangyayaring 'to." — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
