MMFF 2019: the full movie lineup


The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) on Wednesday announced the complete list of entries for the 2019 competition, and it looks like Filipinos are in for a treat!

Eight films of different genres made it to the annual MMFF, which will run from December 25 until the first week of January 2020.

Here are the trailers of the finalists this year:

"The Mall, The Merrier" by Barry Gonzales

A comedy movie for the family, starring comedian Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis.

 

 

"Mindanao" by Brillante Mendoza

Judy Ann Santos plays the role of a mother caring for a child with terminal cancer, while handling the complications of having a husband, who is a soldier, active in a battle.

 

 

"Miracle in Cell No. 7" by Nuel Naval

In the Filipino adaptation of the 2013 award-winning Korean movie, Aga Muhlach will play the role of a mentally-ill man, who is accused of sexually assaulting a little girl. Behind bars, he becomes friends with his fellow inmates and they plan to smuggle his daughter (played by Xia Vigor).

 

 

"Sunod" by Carlo Ledesma

The MMFF is not complete without a horror film. This movie stars Carmina Villarroel, Mylene Dizon, Susan Africa and Kate Alejandrino.

 

 

"Culion" by Alvin Yapan

"Culion" tells the story of three friends Anna (Iza Calzado), Ditas (Jasmine Curtis-Smith) and Doris (Meryll Soriano), who all have Hansen's disease or leprosy.

 

 

"3pol Trobol: Huli Ka Balbon" by Rodel Nacianceno

This comedy film stars Coco Martin, Jennylyn Mercado and Ai Ai delas Alas.

 

 

"Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity" by Mike Tuveria

And Maine Mendoza teams up with Vic Sotto for yet another MMFF  goodie.

 

 

"Write About Love" by Cristano Aquino

This feel good romantic comedy starring Rocco Nacino and Miles Ocampo is the official entry of TBA Studios. Unfortunately, its trailer isn't released just yet. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/LA, GMA News
