First look at Jennylyn as Dr. Maxine in 'Descendants of the Sun'

A day after the revelation that Jennylyn Mercado will be playing Dr. Maxine in the GMA adaptation of "Descendants of the Sun," the Ultimate Star buckled down to taping for the much anticipated project.

Photos of Jen along with leading man Dingdong Dantes, who will play Big Boss in the show, were posted online on Friday.

She has started undergoing some intense medical training to play the lead female role.

"Kailangan kong maghabol kasi, siyempre, kakatapos ko lang nang isa pang soap tapos talon ako sa isa pang character so medyo mahirap. Medyo challenging para sa akin," Jen said in an interview on "24 Oras" on Thursday.

Dingdong and Jen will play the roles originally portrayed by top Korean actors Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.

Jasmine Curtis, on the other hand, will play the role of Lt. Moira Defensor while Rocco Nacino will portray Sgt. Diego Ramos. Kapuso actors Prince Clemente, Jon Lucas and Lucho Ayala will also be on the show. —JST, GMA News
