Michael V. reminisces over band obsession, 'identity crisis' in high school
Comedy genius Michael V. took a trip down memory lane after being presented with an old photo of him during an interview in "Unang Hirit" on Monday.
Bitoy said the photo was taken when he was in high school and was obsessed with new wave bands, which he said was what inspired his hairstyle.
"Struggle 'nung high school, hinahanap mo yung identity mo. Hindi mo malaman anong papasukin mong eventually pagka-grumaduate ka. So parang may identity crisis ako niyan eh hindi ko alam anong gusto kong gawin," he said.
But one thing never changed: his desire to entertain others.
"Pero 'yung willingness to entertain palaging nandoon. 'Yun ang hindi naalis, yung ang hindi nabura talaga. Since childhood gusto ko nang mag-entertain ng mga tao," he said.
Asked if he was always a joker, he answered yes.
"Makulit na talaga ako noon at ang hilig ko mag-punch line noon pa," he said.
Bitoy added that he got this trait from his father.
However, it was his mother who was big on the parodies — unintentionally, that is.
"Yung nanay ko naman ang magaling sa parody. Hindi niya sinasadya yun, palaging misheard lyrics. Pag may kumakanta sa radyo, pag kinakanta niya, iba 'yung lyrics," he said.
Bitoy will make his directorial debut with the film "Family History," which will hit Philippine cinemas on July 24. — LA, GMA News
