Derek Ramsay admits he's quietly hurting over his breakup

Derek Ramsay opened up about his break up with his longtime girlfriend Joanne Villablanca and admitted, "I'm quiet but it doesn't mean I'm not hurting."

After six years of their lives together, the couple officially broke up this June.

Derek said during a Thursday media conference, "Hindi lang isang tao ang nawala sa buhay ko, dalawa," Derek said as he referred to both Joanne and her daughter, Sophie, who Derek loved like his own.

Derek said, "It's not easy to go through this especially since it's probably the longest and most serious relationship I had in my life."

"I have this huge house I'm building now and I'm the only one living in it," he added.

Nevertheless, Derek was optimistic that he would bounce back eventually.

"I'm gonna be up again. I'm sure this is something I'll cherish... six years of being together," he said. "She's always going to have a special place in my heart, so will Sophie."

She's not the only thing

Given his own breakup, Derek wanted to let the heartbroken know that such endings did not mean an end to everything.

In a media conference on Thursday, the Kapuso actor said, "You just gotta think about. Yes, it hurts but you have so many other things in life."

"Whether it's your kids, your family, your friends, your career, yourself... there's so many factors in life that can make you happy. Yes, she's a big factor but she's not the only thing, right?"

Derek emphasized that people shouldn't lose hope even after a heartbreak because everyone was designed to love, maybe not immediately, but eventually.

"Time will heal things and you'll love again," Derek said. — DVM, GMA News
