Vickie Rushton thanks bashers: 'Your comments and reactions were noted'

Vickie Rushton has a message for both her supporters and bashers, after her second stint in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant.

"To all those who believed in me despite my imperfections and to my detractors, thank you so much. Your comments and reactions were noted. I can use some of them to perfect my imperfect self," Vickie wrote on her Instagram post.

Life is the biggest classroom and experience is the greatest teacher. My experiences in the recently concluded Bb. Pilipinas pageant has taught me a lot of lessons - lessons which will guide me as i continue to embark in my life’s journey. These experiences will help me find more options to reach my life goal. To all those who supported me, prayed for me, joined me in my journey, thank you is not enough to express my gratitude for your unconditional support and love. I treasure the moments i shared with my fellow Binibinis who, like me, shared a common dream of getting a crown. In them, I found a family. We worked together, laughed together, and at times cried together. I am sincerely happy to the crown holders and commiserate with those who did not. I have a lot to thank - the BPCI for the opportunity to compete again and to our mentors for guiding us. To all those who believed in me despite my imperfections and to my detractors, thank you so much. Your comments and reactions were noted. I can use some of them to perfect my imperfect self. Thank you also to those who continue to defend me. Let us put to rest the issue and we can move on from here. We can be friends even if we had differences. Let’s consider how to uplift one another, support, encourage and pray for each other. . “In a world full of hate, be love.” Be kind. ♥?

Vickie thanked those who have been standing up for her; she also hoped the issue about her performance would stop after her post.

"Thank you also to those who continue to defend me. Let us put to rest the issue and we can move on from here. We can be friends even if we had differences. Let’s consider how to uplift one another, support, encourage and pray for  each other," she added.

Vickie fumbled during her turn in the Q&A portion of the pageant last Sunday, where she was asked, "Why is mental health as important as physical health?"

She answered: "Mental health is as important as physical health, because of our inner being. Having self-love is important. As a woman, I can inspire and empower the people to take care of themselves, to take care of their mind as well as their health. They will be as effective."

Just a day after the pageant, her boyfriend, Kapuso actor Jason Abalos, was quick to defend her. He said Vickie was distracted by other candidates' fans who were making noise while she was answering.

This is Vickie's second time to join Binibining Pilipinas. Last year, she finished first runner-up. This year she ended her journey early, finishing as one of the top 15. — LA, GMA News
