Family devastated as Eddie Garcia remains comatose —spokesperson

Family members of Eddie Garcia are "really devastated" as the veteran actor remains comatose in a hospital, according to the family's spokesman.

According to Garcia's doctor Regina Macalintal-Canlas, the actor "is in a comatose state with minimal spontaneous respiration."

GMA News' Darlene Cay on Wednesday reported in Unang Balita that Garcia's relatives are going through an agonizing ordeal.

"They really are devastated specially for Lilibeth and the immediate members of the family seeing Tito Eddie in that condition," said Dr. Tony Rebosa, one of Garcia's attending physicians and the designated family spokesperson.

"Dati talagang maliksi siya but now he's at the ICU so it's really painful and agonizing for the family."

Doctors said Garcia is in critical condition due to cervical fracture.

"Talagang his fate is in God's hands. Well, of course, miracles do happen kaya lang as stated in the bulletin, he's in critical condition and he's in coma. Hasn't regained consciousness since... the gravity kasi of the injuries eh cervical fracture sa neck niya," Rebosa said.

The Garcia family continues to ask for prayers, and expressed their gratitude for the love and support given by the public. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
