Derek Ramsay to star in a GMA primetime drama ‘The Better Woman’ with Andrea Torres

For his first project with GMA, Derek Ramsay will topbill a primetime drama called “The Better Woman” with Kapuso star Andrea Torres.

Derek said he only met Andrea the other day when they shot a station ID in Subic.

“I’m gonna be working with the very beautiful and very talented Andrea Torres and I’m happy to have met her just the other day. We shot the station ID, nag-shoot kami sa Subic and first time ko siyang ma-meet,” Derek said in an interview with GMA reporters.

He said he was first worried that they might get awkward as they immediately shot sexy and romantic scenes, but to his surprise everything went smoothly.

“First time ko siyang makilala, and yung mga scenes namin dun ay sexy and romantic na agad,” Derek said.

“I was kinda worried. Pano kung mailang kami sa isa’t isa? But wow, she’s an amazing woman and we just hit it off nung ginawa namin ‘yung mga eksena. One take and then naririnig mo sila direk na kinikilig,” he added.

He said the primetime show will be challenging and it's so far been a great experience working with Andrea.

“It was a pleasure to work with her. I’ll be doing a soap with her called ‘The Better Woman’ which is going to be very challenging for her. I’m excited for her actually kasi ang hirap ng role na gaganapin niya dito sa 'The Better Woman' and I think she’s the perfect one for the role.”

At his welcoming press conference at GMA, Derek told the media that the drama will be "very sexy, daring in the sense na the situation that my character will experience, the mistakes, siguro yun na yung highest  from a man's point of view kung magkakamali ka sa isang relationship.

Without giving away too much, Derek gave a few clues on what "The Better Woman" will be about.

"Grabe kung nangyari to sa kin. How will I handle this? So naisip ko, pa'no ko kaya bubuhayin yung character na to? It's so hard na ilagay yung sarili mo sa character na yun, hirap i-explain kasi ayokong [i-spoil], it's so messed up what happens to my character and it's so twisted how to the point na you think this doesn't happen in real life but it has...I can't wait to shoot those scenes, it's intense."

The newest Kapuso actor also noted that his first primetime show with GMA is going to be more than just a sexy drama.

"Although I'm working with a very beautiful, sexy, leading lady, there are gonna be scenes that are kapag kailangan, it needs to be established, the love that we have for one another and then for the other it's lust and obsession and jealousy not just towards the other partner in the sense of bakit ganito ang buhay niya at ako hindi."

"The Better Woman" will be under the helm of Mark dela Cruz, whom Derek said he can't wait to work with again. Their first shooting day on April 11.

"Matagal ko na siyang hindi nakikita and I can't wait na makita ko siya ulit."

Derek officially signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network on Wednesday. — LA, GMA News
