Derek Ramsay on signing with GMA Network: ‘I’ve been waiting all my life for this day’
On Wednesday, GMA Network welcomed Derek Ramsay as the Fil-British hunk signed an exclusive contract with the network.
“It’s surreal. It’s unbelievable. I’ve been waiting all my life for this day,” Derek told GMA News Online.
Derek narrated how GMA made it easy for him to make the move: The Kapuso Network also reached out to his parents and really tried to get to know his family.
“They reached out to my folks and we had a great meeting…the way they approached me and my family, it was, again, with so much respect,” Derek said.
He liked that GMA respected him and gave him space to really think about it. “It was going to be a big transition, I wanted to just play golf everyday. I was doing that for half a year already and they respected the fact that, ‘sige, when you’re ready’.
“I went back and talked to my parents and they were the first ones [to say] ‘I really like the people that we just met and I think you’re a perfect fit to be working with people like that.’ And my family, they said ‘you should do this’ and I was like wow. They are really so close to me so when I felt comfortable, sabi ko, perfect fit na talaga to. They gave me the time to prepare my mind and my body.”

Derek also noted how GMA likes to take risks, a quality that he also sees in himself. “What I noticed with Kapuso is, you guys like to take risks. It’s not just the same thing [you] put on the table all the time. I love the fact that they take risks, and that’s what I do with my life. [Taking risks] gets me in trouble but you know what, it’s also gotten me to where I am.
"The bigger the risk you take, the bigger the success. And if you fail, you can learn from that mistake that you don’t make it again the next time you take a big risk. I’m a risk take. I like challenging projects. I like to try new things and that’s what I know GMA can provide."
Derek is set to topbill the upcoming primetime drama, “The Better Woman” with Kapuso star Andrea Torres. — LA, GMA News
