Yasmien Kurdi hopes to help OFWs someday after finishing college
After announcing the good news that she will be graduating soon, Yasmien Kurdi said she specifically took a course that will help her help overseas Filipino workers.
The Kapuso actor said living in another country and witnessing her OFW mom inspired her to take up foreign services and continue with political science.
"Dati kasi, ‘yong first course ko bago ako mag-nursing is foreign service. ‘Yong mom ko mismo overseas Filipino [worker] siya," Yasmien told reporters at the press conference of "Hiram na Anak" on Monday.
After seeing their struggles, Yasmien said she wanted to one day help these Filipinos.
"Nakita ko mismo ‘yong struggle ng mga Filipinos noon, naisip ko baka isang araw puwede ko rin silang matulungan in my own little ways," Yasmien said.
When asked if she plans to pursue law, she said, "Hindi po ako maglo-law, if ever itutuloy ko pa siya, baka mag-masteral ako ng consular diplomacy."
She said she didn't push through with nursing and medicine because she didn't want to quit showbiz, which she said is her passion and first love.
Yasmien shared that she even sacrificed spending time with her husband Rey just to study.
Yasmien expressed how happy she feels now that she has finished her thesis and will soon march and graduate.
Yasmien will be starring as as Miren on the latest GMA afternoon primetime "Hiram Na Anak" with her fellow Kapuso stars Dion Ignacio, Lauren, Young, Paolo Contis, Empress Schuck, Maey Bautista and Leanne Bautista. — LA, GMA News
