Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid, GMA reporter Mariz Umali receive honorable mentions in the International Film Festival of Manhattan 2018


Ruru Madrid’s Magpakailanman episode “Takbo ng Buhay Ko” and Mariz Umali’s I-Witness documentary, “Behind the Banquet” received honorable mentions at the recently concluded International Film Festival of Manhattan 2018.

In “Takbo ng Buhay Ko,” Ruru played Renson Embradura, a person with disability. It aired in July 2018.

“Behind the Banquet” meanwhile looked into how luxury buffets are prepared, with Mariz Umali playing an apprentice in an buffet spot in Taguig. It was aired on April 14, 2018.

The accolades added to the massive 11 awards received by Filipinos at the event, including the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Baby Go, Best Student Film given to Harlene Bautista, and Best Actress Award given to Andi Eigenmann.

The IFFM was held in the Big Apple from October 17-21. The awarding ceremony was held on October 18 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center.
