Bianca Umali on her late mother: I miss you, I love you

The time around Mother's Day can be bittersweet for Bianca Umali, who was only five years old when she lost her mom to breast cancer.

This week, the Kambal Karibal star took to Instagram for a tribute to her mother with a throwback photo, with the caption "te extraño te quiero."

The Spanish phrase roughly translates: "I miss you, I love you."

Bianca, who also lost her father to heart attack when she was 10, says the experience of being orphaned at an early age “wasn’t easy and it will never be easy until today. Masakit po siya and I will forever be incomplete,” she told Jessica Soho in an interview last March.

But Bianca did not let the experience keep her from becoming one of Philippine showbiz's brightest young stars.

“If you’re going to focus on the negative, wala naman pong mangyayari sa inyo. What’s important is that you look forward, you stand up and move on,” she said. —JST, GMA News
