Sanya Lopez reflects on being told she wasn't good enough to be Danaya

Keeper of the Earth Gem Danaya has her feet planted firmly on the ground. 

Kapuso star Sanya Lopez in an Instagram post on Thursday shared her experience as a rookie actor joining a project as big as the "Encantadia" reboot.  Before the program aired, she said that she received comments like “Sanya is just a newbie and she has no right to be in the level of the other leads.”

Some people thought she couldn't live up to Diana Zubiri's version of the character and that she was out of her depth in terms of acting skills.

"Masakit din po syempre para sa akin. I feel sad about it, lalo na pinaghirapan ko talaga na makuha 'yong role ni Danaya," Sanya said, "But later on I took it constructively. Pinakinggan ko pa rin ang mga comments, baka may point nga sila."

The actor said that she saw their point: "I haven’t proven anything yet."

"Pero pinagbutihan ko nalang sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Importante naman po wala kang inaapakan at inaagrabyadong tao," she continued. 

 

There was a time during Encantadia days when I received comments that “Sanya is just a newbie and she has no right to be in the level of the other leads”. Na baka masapawan lang ako sa acting at di ko mapantayan ang pagganap ni ate Diana Zubiri as danaya nung past encantadia. Masakit din po syempre para sakin. I feel sad about it lalo na pinaghirapan ko talaga na makuha yung role ni Danaya. But later on I took it constructively. Pinakinggan ko pa rin ang mga comments,baka may point nga sila. Which I realize tama naman po sila, I haven’t proven anything yet. Pero pinag butihan ko nalang sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Importante naman po wala kang inaapakan at inaagrabyadong tao. :) My manager, all my supporters SanyaWarriors helped me and inspires me. My manager gave me advice on how to handle bashers. Yung mga sumusuporta sakin, sila yung nasasaktan para sakin, pero sinasabi ko nalang na hayaan nalang natin sila. Sanya gave a shout out to her family and fans, who were hurt on her behalf. 

"'Yong mga sumusuporta sa akin, sila 'yong nasasaktan para sa akin, pero sinasabi ko nalang na hayaan nalang natin sila," she said. — Aya Tantiangco, GMA News
