Rohaima Macarimbor, 55, a “bakwit” from Marawi, started a small business at their evacuation center in Iligan with a capital of only P300. At first she sold bananas, then slowly moved up to selling cooked meals. Aside from earning much needed cash, Rohaima feels good that she can stand on her own and provide for her two grandchildren without relying on dole outs. Madali siyang umiyak, pero madali rin siya patawanin :) - This is the kind of dignity that many evacuees crave. The fighting may be over, but the displaced need durable solutions in the months and years to come, even as they start going back to devastated communities in Marawi. You can support them by making a donation to UNHCR.

"It's going to come out every month. It's very exciting kasi I'm given a lot of latitude to tell stories," sabi ni Atom.
