Is 'My Love From the Star' actor Gil Cuerva cutting his long hair?
Gil Cuerva's days as Manager Mateo in GMA's Telenovela "My Love from a Star" are over yet the rookie actor is holding onto his signature long hair.
"Medyo clear naman po na preference ko 'yung long hair," Gil said in a press conference on Monday.
The former model shared there was more to his 'do than playing the role.
"I feel like it gives me an identity. It makes me unique, it makes me who I am. Actually, I’ve always wanted to have long hair, even when I was a kid," he said.
The Spanish-Filipino actor, who stressed he was thankful for his grade school and high school education at a private school, thinks the general idea of a school haircut rule is "obsolete."
"So when I went to college, shun na, I was free to grow my hair. Pero sana baguhin po, I actually don't really believe in the haircut rule," Gil said.

"Sasabihin ko na ngayon, I think the haircut rule actually suppresses your freedom to actually express yourself, in terms of hair," he added.
But, he said, if a role needed him to cut his hair, then by all means.
"Kasi when you accept the role, you accept your character. Hindi [naman] ako magiging Gil Cuerva sa next role ko, so if they need to cut my hair, open naman po ako," the actor said.
“I’m giving myself a few months to improve on myself, not just in terms of acting, but actually, pati 'yung katawan ko, plano kong magpalaki ng konti...nagpapaborta na po ako ngayon, 'di lang po halata. Pero give it time, trust the process," he added.
"I want to prepare myself para when the next project comes, ready na lahat."
After dawning on evening television screens as the mysterious-but-caring love interest of Jennylyn Mercado, Cuerva said there was no way he could specify what kind of role he wanted to play next.
“I would just like to do role that would challenge me... not just 'yung skill ko but even who I am as a person," he said.
"I don't wanna put a role out there and say na heto 'yung ultimate end point ko, heto 'yung ultimate goal ko, 'cause it doesn’t stop there," he added. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
