German ‘Kuya Germs’ Moreno: Isang tunay na huwarang Kapuso

Humble, loyal, hardworking and God-fearing are among the traits of German "Kuya Germs" Moreno pointed out by GMA Network executives during the necrological services on Wednesday evening.

"Salamat sa iyong pag aaruga sa GMA at sa industriya ng showbusiness. Ikaw ay isang tunay na huwarang Kapuso," said Atty. Felipe Gozon, GMA Chairman and CEO.

"Kuya Germs is among the very few people that we all wish could go on forever. Sabi nga niya, "Walang Tulugan, Walang Iwanan." Speaking for myself, I cannot imagine a broadcast network without Kuya Germs," he added.

Gozon paid tribute to Moreno, who stayed with the network for about 40 years where he produced and hosted variety shows, celebrity talk shows and discovered and trained young artists.

"I think Kuya Germs will appreciate more if we keep his legacies alive. How? By loving and nurturing show business with all our hearts and all our minds and with utmost sincerity," said the executive.

"Kung lahat ng tao ay tulad ni Kuya Germs na may palabra de honor, may pagpapahalaga sa pinagmulan, at hindi nagpapadala sa panandaliang silaw ng kasikatan. Siguro ibang-iba ang mundo ng showbusiness. Wala itong mga intriga, iringan at rivalries," he added.

Former representative of the first district of Rizal Gilberto Duavit Sr. related his friendship with the late actor and host.

"How do you say goodbye to a friend of almost 50 years?," Duavit began, adding that they were co-workers and that they enjoined hours and hours together.

"He is not my kuya, he is my barkada. Truly, socially, politically, economically. I think we covered that area," shared Duavit.

The other network executives who paid tribute to the Master Showman was GMA Senior VIce President for Entertainment Lilibeth Rasonable as well as co-workers from Super Radyo dzBB and TV shows.

Moreno was the network's iconic talent from 1974 to 2000, said Joel Jimenez, a member of the Board of Trustees of GMA Network who represented the Jimenez family.

His shows included Germside, Germspesyal, GMA Supershow, Daigdig ng mga Artista sa Telebisyon, That's Entertainment, and Walang Tulugan.

His flagship show, however, was "That's Entertainment" that paved the way for young budding talents to become superstars.

Jimenez said: "Kuya Germs has been so closely linked to GMA that many people really thought that stood for German Moreno and Associates."

"And I am sure Kuya Germs loved hearing that," he added.

Moreno was described as a loyalist, who stayed with GMA through thick and thin, a star maker and a God-fearing man.

"Thank you, Kuya Germs for having shared your life with us. You are truly, in the sevice of man and for the glory of God," said Jimenez. — BAP, GMA News
