Ex-beauty queen slams Toni Gonzaga's 'appalling' remarks at Binibing Pilipinas Q&A

Toni Gonzaga came under fire from viewers over her performance during Sunday's Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation night.

One of those viewers happened to be a former beauty queen herself.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Binibining Pilipinas 2010 Nina Ricci Alagao called the television host's conduct "appalling".

"I sensed over-confidence almost to the point of arrogance. And the way she prodded some of the judges to proceed with the Q&A was as if she was at par with these well-respected people in terms of age and experience," said Alagao.



Toni peppered her hosting stint with jokes and side comments directed at contestants and judges, drawing the attention of viewers. That did not sit well with some viewers, including Nina Ricci.

But Nina Ricci's comments later drew its own set of criticisms from fans of Toni.

Nina Ricci later backtracked on her comments, even while she maintained that she herself admired Toni's work. She added that she was only critical of Toni's performance in the Q&A portion, and not of Toni's whole performance.

"When one points out a person's mistake, that does not say anything about whether he or she hates the person. When a mother scolds or reprimands her children it does not mean she loves them any less," she said.
