CamSur suspends work, classes on Jan. 8, 2025 amid shear line

Work and classes have been suspended in Camarines Sur in light of the yellow rainfall warning raised over the province on Wednesday due to the shear line.

“To ensure the safety of learners/students and school personnel from the risks posed by this weather disturbance, face-to-face classes and work in schools at all levels (public and private) are suspended today, January 8, 2025, until lifted,” Governor Luigi Villafuerte said in a memorandum.

Modular distance learning, performance tasks, projects, or make-up classes shall be implemented in schools.

“Further, parents and guardians are strongly advised to promptly pick up their children from school. In the event that travel is deemed unsafe, schools shall ensure that learners remain safely inside classrooms until conditions improve,” he added.

Villafuerte cited the state weather bureau PAGASA's Heavy Rainfall Advisory No. 2 at 8 a.m., which raised a yellow rainfall warning over Camarines Sur due to the shear line.

“This weather condition is anticipated to cause flooding in low-lying areas and near river channels,” Villafuerte said. —Joviland Rita/VBL, GMA Integrated News
