Muntinlupa suspends public school classes after Batangas earthquake
Classes in all levels in public schools in Muntinlupa City were suspended on Friday, October 13, 2023, following the magnitude 5.0 earthquake that rocked Calaca, Batangas and was felt in Metro Manila.
In a post on Facebook, Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the classes were suspended in the city to give way for the inspection of public school buildings.
"Ipinag-utos ko ang inspeksiyon para i-check ang integridad ng mga gusali ng public schools sa lungsod," he said.
(I ordered the inspection to check the integrity of public school buildings in the city.)
Regarding private schools, Biazon said he is leaving the decision on class suspension to the school's management.
The earthquake was felt at Intensity IV in Muntinlupa City.
Other cities and municipalities affected by the quake have yet to make similar announcements as of posting time. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
