Physical, virtual classes in Rizal public schools suspended from Jan. 17-29
The Department of Education (DepEd) Rizal announced the suspension of classes in all public schools in the province for students and teachers amid the swift increase of COVID-19 cases nationwide.
The suspension of classes will be imposed for both physical and virtual classes in all levels, in public schools of Rizal province from January 17 to 29.
“Classes are SUSPENDED in ALL LEVELS (both physical and virtual) in PUBLIC SCHOOLS starting January 17 up to January 29, 2022, in consideration of our teachers’ and learners’ health and well-being due to the COVID-19 surge,” the DepEd Rizal said in an advisory on Thursday.
Meanwhile, private schools may exercise their discretion relative to the suspension of classes and activities based on consultation with their respective parents’ associations.
The government placed Metro Manila, including Rizal and around 50 other areas under Alert Level 3 from January 16 to 31 amid the rising COVID-19 cases.
The Philippines on Friday logged 37,207 new COVID-19 cases, another highest daily tally since the start of the pandemic, increasing the nationwide count to 3,129,512. — DVM, GMA News
