F. Manalo Bridge in Pasig temporarily opened to pedestrians, tricycles

The Pasig City local government announced that F. Manalo Bridge, which was recently damaged, will be temporarily opened for two-way traffic for certain vehicles and pedestrians starting September 2.

The bridge will be temporarily opened from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight for two-way traffic for tricycles, motorcycles, bicycles, e-bikes, and pedestrians.

The LGU said ambulances on emergency calls and e-trikes weighing less than 1,000 kg will also be allowed to use the bridge.

However, cars, SUVs, UVs, fire trucks, vans, and cargo trucks will not be allowed to use the bridge yet.

F. Manalo Bridge in Barangay Manggahan was damaged last July at the height of the effects of the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Super Typhoon Carina.

At least 13 barges and boats drifted due to strong current in Marikina River that time, hitting the F. Manalo Bridge in Pasig City.

A portion of the bridge was damaged and some of the boats turned upside down while some were stuck underneath the bridge, and others were swept away by the strong current. —KG, GMA Integrated News
