Parts of Mindanao Avenue closed for Metro Manila Subway station construction
Parts of Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City were closed to traffic beginning on Saturday, June 29, to make way for the construction of the Tandang Sora Station of the Metro Manila Subway Project.
According to Christian Maño's report on Super Radyo dzBB, the closure of the two outer lanes of Mindanao Avenue-Southbound is expected to affect traffic along the stretch of Mindanao Avenue between Congressional Avenue and Tandang Sora Avenue.
''Light vehicles can utilize the newly constructed diversion road to offset the closure of the outer lane of Mindanao Avenue,'' the Department of Transportation said in a statement.
''Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion in the construction area,'' it added.
The Metro Manila Subway Project involves the construction of a depot and a 33-kilometer railway line consisting of 17 stations that will connect Valenzuela City to Pasay City with a spur line to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
Once operational, the subway is seen to reduce travel time from Valenzuela to NAIA from one hour and 30 minutes to just 35 minutes, servicing 519,000 passengers daily.
The Metro Manila Subway is expected to be fully operational in 2029. —Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA Integrated News
