DPWH to repair southbound C5 Ortigas, Pasig flyovers’ inner lane starting January 21

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to begin its repair works on the southbound inner lane of C5 Ortigas Flyover and C5 Pasig Boulevard Flyover on Saturday, January 21.

In a statement, the DPWH said its Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office (MM1st DEO) will conduct the reparation of the bridge expansion joint of the inner lane until February 21.

This project will replace the old bridge expansion joints, allowing more stability to the structural integrity of the bridges.

It came after the completion of the chipping works on the 3.5-meter first lane of the southbound portions of both the flyovers from December 2, 2022 to January 15, 2023. This included the installation of new bridge expansion joints on identified spans, which is now passable to all types of vehicle.

MM1st District Engineer Medel Chua said the same repair works will be done on the 4-meter inner lane of the two flyovers to complete the rehabilitation project.

The DPWH warned that heavier traffic may be experienced during the repair activities and curing period.

It thus advised motorists with wide vehicles to use service roads as alternate routes during the construction schedule from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Only 3.5 meters are passable on the outer lane, according to the agency. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
